'Substance Dependency-Induced Psychosis' (SDIP)

Letter to the Editor

This message will be very shortly be followed by a yearner one that will further explain the very important -- simply unfortunately -- also selfsame politically incorrect psychiatric diagnosing of "Substance Dependency-Induced Psychosis" (SDIP).

This label has, effectively, been applied to it by the Psychiatric Establishment. Combined with the economically wrong label by the pharmaceutical industry -- both been successful in making this diagnosis unavailable to the public.

I am a psychiatrist with a special interest in substance dependence -- wHO has been on an over 25 year quest to get this diagnosis officially established. There is very impressive evidence for the rigor of the diagnosis. As a direct result of my efforts, the province of California currently uses knowledge of the diagnosing in its mental wellness system planning -- though it avoids any official mention of the diagnosis.

SDIP resembles schizophrenia, which it's ordinarily diagnosed as. It is also intimately as common as schizophrenia. One third of the SDIP cases I hold treated let enjoyed a complete remittal -- which is commonly permanent. Most of these cases had already been diagnosed as schizophrenic. The good results were a combination of their receiving the proper treatment, and the fact that SDIP patients ar usually less ill than schizophrenia patients.

Most cases of "replete recovery from schizophrenia" are actually cases of SDIP, where the persons get stopped their addictive substance use. However, lifelong abstinence is oft not sufficient for any remission of the psychosis.

It is a especial shame that knowledge of the risk of infection of development this unwellness has non been made available to persons world Health Organization are undergoing treatment for substance dependencies. Making such available would increase the rate of recovery for them -- and hence also help to greatly reduce the rate of later SDIP complications.

It is already well known in psychiatry that on that point is a large academic degree of association of the diagnoses of schizophrenia (and other functional psychoses) with those of substance dependencies. But this association and the episode of these disorders have largely been ignored. This is because the association has been explained away by the theoretical and convenient "biologic spin" that it is due to their "common genetic factors."

Unfortunately, there has been a sad absence of any in force whistleblowers for the diagnosing. I am now positive that the most likely way to get this very valuable diagnosis useable to the public would be for the media to adequately report on the diagnosing.

Such would almost for sure soon consequence in public pressure "persuading" one or more aesculapian schools to perform the necessary clinical trial for the diagnosis.

Sincerely nerve-racking to improve mental health care,

Hannah-Less Miley Breaks Out Big on Charts

Who of necessity Hannah Montana? Apparently not Miley Cyrus.

The tween queen's new, non-Hannah album, Breakout, broke onto the charts at No. 1, selling 371,000 copies for the calendar week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen SoundScan data released today.

Her two previous studio apartment releases, both Miley-Hannah jazz group jobs, as well topped the Billboard 200. But Breakout is an official solo release (she cowrote eight of the 13 cuts). It also represents her best gross sales week, topping last summer's Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus by 45,000, and the second best week for a female artist this year.

Despite the big numbers, Cyrus' album didn't occur close to Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, which sold 1 million copies for the biggest sales week of the class, or even Mariah Carey's E=MC2, which sold 463,000 copies its debut weekthe best for a female artist this year. Cyrus does have line-shooting rights over Madonna, though. The Material One's Hard Candy opened with 288,000.

Cyrus faced some stiff rival from Sugarland. The countrified duo stirred 314,000 of Love on the Inside to land at No. 2.

Other than the odd photograph spread, Cyrus' path to world domination continues unabated. She hosts the Teen Choice Awards this weekend. Her animated movie Bolt opens in November, the same month as her sweet 16th, and she already uttered interest in doing a soundtrack duo with film costar John Travolta. Then there's the upcoming unexampled season of her Disney Channel hit, as well as a Hannah Montana movie, due in May 2009, both of which will spawn albums.

Like Cyrus' latest, Love on the Inside simon Marks a new career high gear for Sugarland, whose previous high was a 211,000-copy No. 4 bow for 2006's Enjoy the Ride. Love on the Inside is also the band's first album to top the Country Albums chart.

(For those keeping track at plate, the electric current Love on the Inside album is a luxe edition, with the regular version set to make believe its debut on

R. Kelly Lawyer Apologises To Miley Cyrus

. KELLY's defence attorney has publicly apologised to teen actress MILEY CYRUS for using her name at his client's child pornography trial.
The singer - real name Robert Kelly - was acquitted of 14 counts of child pornography in a Chicago, Illinois on Friday (13Jun08)
During the closing arguments of the trial, lawyer Sam Adam Jr. had used Hannah Montana star Cyrus to explain how teenagers gossip in a bid to prove the sex act his client was accused of didn't happen.
He told the jury: "This wasn't a gardener or the man down the street or a janitor. This was a 13-year-old girl having sex with a superstar, and she doesn't tell anyone? She doesn't let it slip to her best friend? Never? Not anyone? You can't keep a 13-year-old's mouth closed over Hannah Montana tickets, but this?"
But Adam has since apologised for using Cyrus as an example.
He tells MTV.com, "Miley Cyrus woke up this morning (saying), 'Why me?!
"Hannah Montana is the biggest thing out - no offence, Robert. And to Miley, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring you up, and if you took it negatively, I'm sorry."
And Adam admits Kelly was unaware of his plan to use Cyrus' name, adding: "No, I didn't run it by him. I probably should have. Now that I think about it, I probably should have."

Court now orders Spears psych exam

A judge has ruled that troubled pop star Britney Spears must be examined by a court-appointed psychiatrist to determine if she understands the legal proceedings involving her.
Reuters reports that Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ordered on Monday that the psychiatrist file a report on the 26-year-old's mental condition by 13 February.
On 14 February it will be decided how much longer Spears' assets should remain under the temporary control of her father and his attorney.
Commissioner Gordon also said that a restraining order against Spears' self-styled manager and confidant, Sam Lutfi, forbids him from any form of contact with her.
Spears was taken to the UCLA Medical Center for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation last week; her stay has now been extended to two weeks.
